Please help us save two important MidCentury Modern buildings—both Usonian architecture. One is a Victor Horbein building and the other is built by Ed White. The City Council is voting tomorrow on this. Shannon Stanbro at 5280mod is helping get out the word.
I believe there is a hearing tonight in Denver per the Westword.
Here is the email that I wrote to the city council:
Dear Council,
I am writing to ask you to please vote to KEEP the Victor Hornbein and Ed White buildings in your meeting tomorrow. These two buildings are precious and excellent examples of MidCentury Modern Usonian architecture.
Not only is preservation the right thing to do for historical significance, it is also the GREEN thing to do. Why must these buildings be torn down, dismantled and thrown into a landfill and simply replaced with new buildings. Keeping these buildings as an integral part of the city helps maintain Denver’s rich architectural history WHILE being environmentally responsible.
Thanks so much for reading my email!
Sincerely,
Lesley Anderson

Yay! At least we Denver mid-century enthusiasts may unite after this! My email is on it’s way!
I played too:
Good day;
I author a nationally read blog called Atomic Indy, which focuses on the appreciation of mid century modern design. One of our readers, and Denver’s mid century modern hero, Shannon Stanbro brought to our attention that your city is in immediate danger of losing two Victor Hornbein & Ed White Usonian-style buildings. The Usonian style was made famous by architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Denver has some beautiful examples of mid century modern architecture and it would be a shame to lose sight of this by allowing the destruction of the two buildings in question.
I write in an effort to raise your awareness of the value of preservation. Not for the sake of preservation itself, but rather for acknowledgment of, and appreciation for the significance and architectural relevance of these particular buildings. If even one of you considers a Denver landscape void of these mid-century gems and shutters, than there has been a small amount of success. If one of you raises the topic in conversation with another, then the path to preservation has been set. This path is lit for you. Take it. I urge you to contact Shannon Stanbro: shannon@5280mod.com to discuss possible preservation efforts.
We’re not here to give you more work. There are people in place to make the next steps easy for you.
Cheers,
-Baz
Awesome! I’m glad I jumped online this afternoon during Ty’s nap…I saw Shannon’s note a few weeks ago, but hadn’t been on Facebook much recently…I caught your note today Baz at atomicindy.com! Thanks!
