It doesn’t look like a lot happened this week, but quite a few things got done. Somehow, the ceiling tongue & groove was underestimated, so a rush custom order was needed for about 300 more square feet. AND, there was a fire at the lumber yard, so we lost a few days. But other work [...]

It’s been a crazy last two weeks. And very productive. Here are the biggies. All of the beams for the addition are in place and welded together. The roof & ceiling was completely ripped off of the original house. Can you say rotten ceiling? The new tongue & groove ceiling was installed in the addition [...]

The Coin House is spectacular! Built in the early 1960′s and designed by Tician Papachristou and Charles Haertling, it is a sprawling, beautiful time capsule. I didn’t think I’d be able to get over there, but we had a few minutes to dash through the house. Here are some of the pics. Click on this [...]

I swore I’d never do mass stripping after our kitchen remodel in San Francisco. Never say never! I am the stripping queen these days. I’ve been working on the solid mahogany trim that is around the windows, door frames and closets. I used CitriStrip and Soy Gel to remove the white paint. But, there is [...]

Stripping hell continues. Let’s review what we are stripping in our little house. 1. All of the Doug Fir beams – like 30 feet long and maybe 20 of them. 2. All of the mahogany trim and wood around the house. Yes, idiots covered it all in paint. 3. Concrete Block inside and outside the [...]

Welcome to the third stop on our Historic Denver Summer of Modernism Tour…the Amter House. I loved this house. It was split level…short stairways separating the big open spaces. It didn’t feel like a huge, sprawling house, but it seemed like it had so much living space. It was seriously hailing while we were at [...]
