If it's a Remcraft light, they can be used outside, but they need a little shield inside to keep the water out. And, then you need to caulk around the edges where the light is mounted. We have similar ones on our house. Now, about the VW commercial...I have been so out of the loop with TV lately that I haven't seen the commercial. I'm going to look it up. I'm getting a lot of searches to my site.
